Golf in Orleans

Orleans is a Northeast Kingdom village on the Black River and Shadow Lake, in the heart of the Orleans County agricultural and lake country. The surrounding landscape of dairy farms, small villages, and glacially carved lakes defines the Kingdom's character in this part of northern Vermont. The Orleans recreation trail and the rail trail along the former NECR railroad right-of-way provide cycling and walking connections between Orleans and the neighboring communities of Barton and Irasburg. The area's short golf season reflects the Kingdom's northern latitude, but summer rounds here benefit from long evening light and cool, comfortable temperatures. The Rail Trail connecting Orleans to Barton and Newport provides a cycling corridor through the Kingdom's agricultural and lake country that gives summer visitors a non-motorized way to experience the area.
