Golf in Springfield

Springfield is a Windsor County industrial city on the Black River, historically known as the Machine Tool Capital of the World for the precision manufacturing companies that once dominated its economy. The Hartness House, built by former governor James Hartness and now operating as an inn, contains an astronomical telescope and underground tunnel that reflect the inventor's eccentric genius. Springfield has been working to diversify its economy as the machine tool industry contracted, with the arts community and outdoor recreation sectors taking on new importance.
