Roswell Country Club provides private membership golf in the Chaves County seat, a city perhaps better known for the 1947 incident that put it permanently on the cultural map. The club predates that notoriety by decades, serving the ranching and agricultural families who built southeastern New Mexico's economy. The Pecos River flows through the region, providing the water that makes Roswell an improbable agricultural hub amid the high plains.
