Walker Lake Golf Course

Walker Lake Golf Course plays nine holes to par 34 in Hawthorne, the seat of Mineral County, situated along the eastern shore of Walker Lake — one of the terminal lakes of the Walker River drainage. Hawthorne is home to a large U.S. Army ammunition depot, and the surrounding landscape is broad high desert at roughly 4,300 feet. Walker Lake itself is a remnant of ancient Lake Lahontan, the prehistoric inland sea that once covered much of the Great Basin. The nine-hole course serves a small community with limited golf alternatives within a substantial driving radius.
