Golf in Enterprise

Enterprise is the county seat of Coffee County and the city adjacent to Fort Novosel—formerly Fort Rucker—the US Army's primary helicopter pilot training installation. The city's famous Boll Weevil Monument, the only monument in the world erected in honor of an agricultural pest, celebrates the economic diversification that followed the devastation of the cotton crop in the early twentieth century, when Coffee County farmers switched to peanuts and ultimately prospered more than they had from cotton. The military connection gives Enterprise a community character shaped by the cycles of military deployment and the presence of aviation culture.
