Parker is the county seat of La Paz County on the lower Colorado River in western Arizona, in the river corridor between the Mohave Valley and the Yuma area. Parker straddles the Colorado River, with the Parker Strip of river below Parker Dam providing one of the most popular water recreation areas on the lower Colorado for boating and water sports. La Paz County is the youngest county in Arizona, formed in 1983 from a portion of Yuma County, with Parker as its county seat in the flat desert terrain along the river. The Colorado River Indian Tribes reservation is south of Parker along the river, providing agricultural and community land that has been farmed since the tribes' relocation there. One course serves the Parker community in the Colorado River corridor of La Paz County.
