Bagdad is a small mining community in northern Yavapai County in the high-desert terrain northwest of Prescott, in a remote part of central Arizona. The community's economy is tied to the copper and molybdenum mine operated in the area, making it one of the more isolated mining communities in Arizona. Bagdad is accessible via SR 96 from Wickenburg, in the open high-desert plateau terrain of northern Yavapai County at roughly 4,000 feet elevation. The surrounding area has the juniper and scrub terrain of the Arizona transition zone between the Sonoran Desert and the higher plateau country.
