Snowflake is a community in Navajo County on the Colorado Plateau of eastern Arizona at roughly 5,600 feet elevation, in the semi-arid high-plateau terrain of the region. The community was settled by Mormon pioneers in the late nineteenth century, with its name deriving from two of the early settlers—Erastus Snow and William Jordan Flake. Snowflake and adjacent Taylor together form a twin-community area in Navajo County, with a heritage of agricultural and ranching activity in the plateau terrain. The Star Nursery Golf Course at Snowflake serves the community in the open high-plateau terrain of Navajo County. One course serves the Snowflake community in the high-plateau terrain of eastern Navajo County.
