Glendale is a city in Los Angeles County north of downtown Los Angeles, adjacent to Burbank and Pasadena in the Verdugo Valley. The city is one of the most populous in Los Angeles County and has a substantial commercial, residential, and entertainment base. The Glendale Galleria and Americana at Brand provide major retail concentrations that draw shoppers from the broader region. Los Angeles County's north valley communities, including Glendale, have grown as urban residential alternatives to the more expensive westside communities. The city has a large Armenian-American population and a strong community identity. Interstate 5, Interstate 210, and State Route 134 provide multiple freeway connections.
