Cartersville is the county seat of Bartow County in northwest Georgia, a growing outer suburb of Atlanta about forty miles north along I-75 in the Ridge and Valley province. The city has significant history and natural attractions, including the Etowah Indian Mounds State Historic Site — one of the most significant Mississippian culture earthwork complexes in the Southeast — and a historic downtown along the Etowah River.
