Golf in Dalton

Dalton is the county seat of Whitfield County in northwest Georgia and the self-described Carpet Capital of the World. The city and surrounding community produce the vast majority of the world's floor covering, with the industry rooted in the hand-tufted chenille bedspread cottage industry of the early twentieth century that evolved into large-scale carpet manufacturing. Shaw Industries, Mohawk Industries, and other major flooring companies have their roots here. Dalton also has significant Cherokee and Civil War heritage, sitting in the northern end of the Ridge and Valley province of northwest Georgia.
