Sandy Springs is a large, prosperous city in northern Fulton County that incorporated in 2005 as the largest city incorporation in Georgia history at that time. The city is adjacent to Atlanta along the Perimeter, home to numerous major corporate headquarters and a dense employment base, and has some of the highest household incomes in the state. Sandy Springs borders the Chattahoochee River along its western edge, which forms the boundary with Cobb County, and the Chattahoochee River National Recreation Area preserves sections of the river corridor. Two golf courses serve this affluent northern metro community.
