Golf in Mackay

Mackay is a small Custer County community in the Lost River Valley at the base of Idaho's highest mountain range—the Lost River Range, including Mount Borah at 12,662 feet. The town emerged from lead and silver mining in the late 19th century and has transitioned to an economy of ranching and outdoor recreation. River Park Golf Course offers views of extraordinary vertical relief: the Lost River peaks rise thousands of feet above the valley floor, making this among the most dramatically situated small-town courses in the American West. The 1983 Borah Peak earthquake, one of the largest in Idaho history, centered just north of Mackay—a reminder of the region's active geology beneath the scenic mountain landscape.
