Golf in Ponderay

Ponderay is a small Bonner County city at the north end of Lake Pend Oreille, positioned alongside Sandpoint as the commercial core of northern Idaho's premier lake country. Lake Pend Oreille—over 1,100 feet deep and with 111 miles of shoreline—is one of the deepest lakes in North America and hosted a secret World War II submarine research program in its extraordinary depths. Ponderay serves as Sandpoint's commercial satellite, hosting retail services and light industry that complement the resort city's hospitality focus. The Elks Golf Course here has long served the local recreational community that has settled along Lake Pend Oreille's north shore for the fishing, boating, and mountain scenery.
