Golf in Speedway

Speedway is one of Indiana's most unusual municipalities — a small incorporated town completely surrounded by Indianapolis, existing as a legal entity independent of the consolidated Indianapolis-Marion County government primarily because of the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. The oval dominates the town's geography and its identity, hosting the Indianapolis 500 each May and drawing hundreds of thousands of visitors to a community whose year-round residential population is modest. Speedway's streets, businesses, and civic life all orbit the Speedway to a degree rare even among racing communities.
