Golf in Auburndale

Auburndale is a village in Newton, a Middlesex County inner suburb on the Charles River west of Boston. Woodland Golf Club serves this community in the Newton-Waltham corridor where the Charles River's upstream reaches wind through a largely preserved riparian landscape. Newton's village system creates a patchwork of residential neighborhoods along the Charles, and Woodland occupies one of the more substantial open parcels in this dense segment of the inner suburbs. The club draws from both Newton and Waltham, in a part of the Route 128 corridor where preserved open land is increasingly uncommon and the pressure of suburban development has absorbed most of the open parcels that once surrounded the river.
