Golf in Hampden

Hampden is a small Hampden County town east of Springfield along the Scantic River corridor, a rural residential community in the eastern Pioneer Valley where the terrain rises above the Connecticut River floodplain into the moderate upland of the Scantic watershed. Hampden Country Club serves this community in the upland above the river, in a town where the combination of the modest population, the rural character, and the Springfield metro's suburban pressure give golf a quieter and less compressed context than the closer-in suburbs.
