Golf in Walkersville

Walkersville is a small Frederick County town in the Monocacy River valley north of Frederick, surrounded by the broad agricultural plain that makes this watershed one of the most fertile farming areas in western Maryland. Glade Valley Golf Club takes its name from the flat 'glades' of this valley—a term used historically for the wet meadow areas along the river's floodplain. Walkersville has maintained its small-town character more successfully than many communities this close to Frederick's growing metro area, and the working farms and open fields around the town give Glade Valley a genuinely rural setting. The Catoctin Mountain's wooded ridge to the west and the Blue Ridge's distant profile to the south provide a mountain backdrop visible from the course.
