Golf in K. I. Sawyer

K. I. Sawyer is a Marquette County community that developed around the former K. I. Sawyer Air Force Base, a strategic bomber base that was one of the major military installations in the Upper Peninsula during the Cold War era before its closure in 1995. The conversion of the base property—renamed Sawyer International Airport with surrounding commercial and residential development—has been a long-term economic transition project for the Marquette County area south of the city.
