Orchard Lake Village is a small Oakland County city on Orchard Lake in the western Oakland County lake district, a tiny incorporated municipality that was once an early attempt at a military academy—the Michigan Military Academy—before becoming an exclusively residential enclave. The Catholic educational institutions on the lake—Orchard Lake Schools, comprising SS. Cyril and Methodius Seminary and St. Mary's Preparatory—give the village a distinctive institutional identity alongside its residential character.
