Golf in Blowing Rock

Blowing Rock is a small resort town in Watauga County, in the NC High Country at about 4,000 feet elevation. The town sits on the Blue Ridge escarpment between Boone and Linville, overlooking the Johns River Gorge below the Blue Ridge crest. Blowing Rock has been a summer resort destination for well over a century, known for the Rock itself — a dramatic outcropping where the gorge's updrafts allegedly make objects thrown into the air return to the thrower. The town's combination of historic resort character, escarpment scenery, and proximity to Boone makes it among the most visited mountain communities in NC.
