Golf in Morganton

Morganton is the county seat of Burke County, in the NC Piedmont foothills at the base of the Blue Ridge. The city is in the upper Catawba River valley, at the edge of the mountains in the foothills landscape between Hickory and the higher elevations to the west. Burke County is adjacent to McDowell County and Caldwell County in the western piedmont foothills, and Morganton serves as the commercial and governmental center of this part of the western NC Piedmont. Lake James, a large reservoir in Burke County, is a significant recreation resource adjacent to Morganton.
