Golf in Boulder City

Boulder City stands apart from the Las Vegas metro in one defining way: it prohibits casinos. Built in the early 1930s to house workers constructing Hoover Dam, the city retains a planned-community quality and a quieter civic identity than its Clark County neighbors. At roughly 2,500 feet elevation, temperatures here are perceptibly cooler than on the valley floor, which extends the golf season and reduces the scorching summer midday heat. Three courses — the Municipal, Boulder Creek's 27 holes, and Cascata's dramatic canyon layout — give the city a golf depth disproportionate to its population. Hoover Dam and Lake Mead National Recreation Area add significant visitor traffic, and golfers staying at Boulder City avoid Strip traffic entirely while remaining within 30 minutes of the airport.
