Golf in Scappoose

Scappoose is a Columbia County community in the Columbia River lowlands north of Portland, where the broad floodplain between the river and the Coast Range foothills has historically supported agricultural activity and now accommodates residential development and light industry. The Scappoose Bay — an arm of the Columbia — and the surrounding wetlands retain significant ecological character despite the development that has accompanied Portland's northward growth. Golf in Scappoose occupies that semi-rural edge, accessible from Portland but genuinely removed from the city's intensity. The Coast Range rises to the west and provides a scenic counterpoint to the flat lowland terrain.
