Golf in Charleston

Charleston is a small Meigs County community on the banks of Chickamauga Lake, the TVA reservoir that stretches along the Tennessee River through the southern Tennessee Valley. Meigs County occupies a position between the Ridge and Valley to the east and the more open terrain of the valley floor, where the river broadens and the Chickamauga Lake shoreline creates the recreational and residential opportunities that define much of this community's modern economy. The surrounding landscape is a mix of river bottomland, hardwood-forested ridges, and the agricultural terrain typical of the mid-Tennessee Valley corridor. Golf here takes advantage of the lake-country setting, in a county without a large population center but with a recreational economy built around the reservoir.
