Golf in Bastrop

Bastrop is the county seat of Bastrop County east of Austin, a city on the Colorado River in the Lost Pines area. Bastrop has a well-preserved Victorian downtown and is known for its proximity to the Lost Pines, a geographically isolated stand of loblolly pines that was severely affected by the 2011 wildfires but has seen ongoing recovery through replanting efforts. The community sits on the Colorado River where it crosses from the Hill Country into the Coastal Plain, and the Lost Pines area is a distinctive ecological zone unlike the surrounding open prairies. Bastrop State Park and McKinney Roughs Nature Park are recreational resources in the area. The community has attracted Austin-area residents seeking a small-town setting with access to the city. Two courses serve the Bastrop area in the distinctive pine and oak terrain.
