Golf in Roosevelt

Roosevelt is the seat of Duchesne County and the commercial center of the Uinta Basin, a broad plateau drained by the Duchesne and Green rivers in northeastern Utah. The basin's economy has traditionally combined ranching and agriculture with energy production — oil, natural gas, and more recently the Uinta Basin's oil shale resources have brought booms and busts to the region. Roosevelt is the largest city in a geographically isolated region: the Uinta Mountains separate the basin from the Wasatch Front, and the drive to Salt Lake City takes around two hours on a clear day. The municipal golf course is a community institution for a population whose recreational options require either long drives or staying local.
