DarkHorse Golf Club is in Auburn, Placer County, in the Sierra Nevada foothills of Gold Country. Auburn is the county seat of Placer County on the I-80 corridor between Sacramento and Tahoe, at roughly 1,200 feet elevation where the lower foothills transition into the more rugged canyon terrain above the American River.
