Las Positas Golf Course sits in Livermore, a city in the eastern Alameda County Tri-Valley area at the inner edge of the East Bay. Livermore is positioned in the Livermore Valley, a broad valley between the Diablo Range and the Mount Hamilton Range, known for its wine country appellations and for the Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory, a major nuclear research facility. The Livermore Valley sits at the eastern end of the Altamont Pass, which connects the Bay Area to the Central Valley, and the Las Positas corridor includes the community college campus nearby.
