Borrego Springs is a small community in San Diego County in the Anza-Borrego Desert, east of the Peninsular Ranges in the desert interior of the county. The community sits at roughly 600 feet elevation in the Borrego Valley, surrounded on multiple sides by Anza-Borrego Desert State Park, the largest state park in California. San Diego County's desert communities, including Borrego Springs, have a resort and retirement character shaped by the warm desert climate and access to the state park. The community has a small commercial area along Palm Canyon Drive, with restaurants and services for visitors and permanent residents. State Route 78 provides the main highway access from the west, and State Route 22 connects to the Imperial Valley to the east.
