Golf in Schofield Barracks

Schofield Barracks is the U.S. Army's largest installation in Hawaii, located in the central Oahu plateau at Wahiawa, where the Army has maintained a major presence since the installation was established in 1908. The base's scale—it occupies a significant portion of the central Oahu plateau—and its role as the headquarters for Army Pacific ground forces give it a central place in the island's military character. Kal'kaua Golf Course serves the large Army community at Schofield, providing recreational golf for tens of thousands of soldiers and their families at an installation that was immortalized in James Jones's novel 'From Here to Eternity,' set at the barracks in the months before the December 7, 1941 attack.
