Golf in Helena

Montana's state capital occupies a valley on the east slope of the Continental Divide, where Last Chance Gulch's gold-rush history gave way to territorial and then state government. Three courses — Bill Roberts Municipal on the valley floor, Fox Ridge on the eastern benchlands, and Green Meadow Country Club on the west side — serve Lewis and Clark County's golf community across different access levels and playing experiences. Helena has the particular character of state capitals everywhere — a mix of government workers, lobbyists, attorneys, and longtime residents with a strong sense of place. The Carroll College Saints and a vibrant arts community give the city cultural depth beyond its administrative function. The season runs May through October in most years.
