Golf in Picacho Hills

Picacho Hills is an unincorporated community on the mesa west of Las Cruces in Doña Ana County, a residential enclave at roughly 4,100 feet with views across the Mesilla Valley and toward the Organ Mountains. The mesa elevation places residents and golfers above the Rio Grande valley floor, providing elevated views and slightly more dramatic terrain than the flat agricultural land below. Picacho Hills Country Club serves the private residential community, maintaining the model of a member-supported club that has defined upscale residential development along this stretch of the lower Rio Grande valley. Winter temperatures here rarely fall below freezing, and the region's 350-plus sunny days make year-round recreational golf realistic. Las Cruces proper and NMSU lie just a few miles to the east, giving the community access to urban and academic amenities.
