Golf in White Sands

White Sands refers to the community associated with White Sands Missile Range, the vast Army testing installation that covers over 3,200 square miles of the Tularosa Basin. The range's history includes the Trinity Test of July 16, 1945 — the first detonation of a nuclear device — and decades of subsequent weapons and aerospace testing. White Sands Missile Range Golf Course serves the installation's military personnel with an 11-hole layout at roughly 4,100 feet. Access is restricted to authorized military and civilian personnel assigned to the range. White Sands National Park, one of the most visually striking landscapes in North America, borders the installation to the southwest.
