Golf in Fallon

Fallon sits in Churchill County east of Reno at the terminus of the Newlands Irrigation Project, where federal water engineering created an agricultural pocket in the middle of the Great Basin. Irrigated fields produce alfalfa, melons, and other crops in a region that would otherwise grow only sage and rabbitbrush. Naval Air Station Fallon, home to the Navy Strike Fighter Tactics Instructor program — better known as Top Gun — gives the city a strong military presence and a steady population of service personnel and their families. Fallon Golf Course's nine-hole layout at par 35 is sized appropriately for the community, providing straightforward recreational golf without pretension.
