Golf in Genoa

Genoa is Nevada's oldest town, a small settlement in Douglas County that predates Nevada statehood by more than a decade. Founded in 1851 by Mormon traders as a waystation for emigrants traveling the Carson Route to California, Genoa retains a handful of nineteenth-century structures and a legendary saloon. The town sits at the very base of the Sierra Nevada escarpment, where the mountains rise abruptly from the valley floor — the vertical relief here is as dramatic as anywhere in the state. Genoa Golf Club's Lakes Course occupies land in this exceptional setting, with lake features and lush turf contrasting against the arid mountain backdrop. The companion Ranch Course across the valley completes a two-layout operation at one of the region's more historically evocative golf addresses.
