Yemassee is a small town in Colleton County, in the ACE Basin corridor of the SC Lowcountry, on the Combahee River in the agricultural and tidal landscape between the Lowcountry coast and the inland Midlands. Colleton County is in the lower SC Lowcountry between Beaufort and Orangeburg counties, and the ACE Basin — named for the Ashepoo, Combahee, and Edisto rivers — is one of the largest undeveloped estuarine systems on the East Coast.
