Golf in Fairfield Glade

Fairfield Glade is a planned retirement and resort community on the Cumberland Plateau in Cumberland County, one of the largest planned communities in Tennessee by area and among the most golf-centric places in the state. Developed beginning in the 1970s, the community was built expressly around outdoor recreation, with multiple courses winding through the plateau's mixed hardwood forests and past the lakes that were created as part of the original development plan. The plateau climate — cooler summers than the surrounding valleys and a genuine four-season character — attracted retirees from the hot lowlands of Middle and West Tennessee as well as from out of state. Fairfield Glade's concentration of courses within a single planned community makes it a defining node in Cumberland County's claim to the Golf Capital of Tennessee designation.
