Golf in Harriman

Harriman is a Roane County city on the Emory River near its confluence with the Clinch and their joint entry into Watts Bar Lake, a TVA reservoir that covers much of central Roane County's river bottomlands. The city was founded in the 1890s as a planned temperance city — an industrial and residential community explicitly built around the prohibition of alcohol, a distinction that attracted considerable national attention at the time. The Roane County landscape here is defined by the Watts Bar Lake shoreline, the Emory River valley, and the Cumberland Plateau escarpment that forms the western horizon. Kingston, the county seat, lies a few miles downstream, and together the two cities anchor Roane County's modest urban population.
