Golf in Vonore
Vonore has 1 golf course — topped by Rarity Bay at 6,799 yards.
Vonore is a small Monroe County community on Tellico Lake in the southern Tennessee Valley, at the site of the original Fort Loudoun — the British fortification built in 1756 in the heart of Cherokee country, whose fall in 1760 marked one of the most dramatic episodes in colonial Appalachian history. Fort Loudoun State Historic Area preserves a reconstruction of the fort near the Tellico Lake shoreline, and the broader Monroe County corridor has the overlapping histories of Cherokee settlement, European colonial conflict, and the TVA's transformation of the valley in the 20th century. The Tellico Village planned community extends across the Loudon-Monroe county line, and Vonore's position on the lake has brought residential and recreational development to a community that was agricultural in character before the dam changed the landscape.
