Golf in Canton

Canton is the county seat of Van Zandt County east of Dallas, well known for First Monday Trade Days, one of the largest outdoor markets in the country held on the weekend before the first Monday of each month. The market draws tens of thousands of visitors from across Texas and neighboring states. Van Zandt County is in the post oak and Cross Timbers transition zone east of the DFW Metroplex, with a mix of agriculture and rural residential development. Purtis Creek State Park near Canton provides lake recreation in the area. The community is approximately 60 miles east of Dallas along the I-20 corridor, at the edge of the East Texas transition from the open prairies of north-central Texas. One course serves the Canton community in the post oak terrain of Van Zandt County.
