Golf in Mission

Mission is one of the Rio Grande Valley cities in Hidalgo County, west of McAllen on the Rio Grande, known as the Home of the Grapefruit for the citrus farming that transformed the Valley's agricultural economy. The Ruby Red grapefruit variety associated with the Texas Valley was developed in the Mission area, and the citrus industry remains part of the Valley identity alongside vegetable farming and subtropical produce. Mission has a predominantly Hispanic population and strong cultural and commercial ties to the adjacent Mexican communities across the Rio Grande. The flat, subtropical terrain of the lower Rio Grande Valley has irrigation canals, citrus groves, and palm trees in this far south Texas location. Mission is approximately 230 miles south of San Antonio and is part of the McAllen-Edinburg-Mission metropolitan statistical area. Two courses serve the Mission community in the flat subtropical terrain of western Hidalgo County.
