Golf in Navasota

Navasota is the county seat of Grimes County in the post oak savanna northeast of Houston, a small city on the Navasota River in the sandy soil country of the Brazos-Trinity divide. The community has connections to the Texas colonial era—a monument in Navasota marks the general area where the La Salle expedition set up Fort Saint Louis in the late seventeenth century. The Old San Antonio Road, a travel route connecting San Antonio to the Sabine River, passed through this part of central Texas. Grimes County has a mix of timber, cattle, and agricultural land on the sandy soils of the post oak savanna, along the Navasota River corridor. The community is approximately 60 miles northwest of Houston along the SH 6 corridor. Two courses serve the Navasota area in the post oak savanna terrain of Grimes County.
