Golf in Odessa

Odessa is the county seat of Ector County in the Permian Basin, paired with Midland as the Midland-Odessa metropolitan area at the heart of west Texas oil country. Odessa has a working-class oil-field character compared to Midland's corporate focus, a distinction captured in H.G. Bissinger's Friday Night Lights, which documented the Permian High School football culture of the community. Ector County is at the center of the Permian Basin's Wolfcamp and Delaware formations, where hydraulic fracturing has unlocked vast additional petroleum production in recent decades.
