California Golf Club of San Francisco sits in South San Francisco, a separate city from San Francisco on the San Francisco Bay Plain south of the county-city line. South San Francisco is known as The Industrial City and occupies the bay-side flatlands and lower grades of the San Bruno Mountain area. The golf club is one of the older clubs in the Bay Area, occupying hillside terrain above the city with a position distinctly above the flat industrial landscape of South San Francisco below.
