Golf in Clifton
1 golf course in Clifton, Arizona.
Clifton is the county seat of Greenlee County in far eastern Arizona along the San Francisco River, in the rugged canyon and mountain terrain of the Gila Mountains area. Greenlee County is the smallest county in Arizona by population, with an economy centered on the Morenci copper mine operated by Freeport-McMoRan, one of the largest copper mines in the world. Clifton's setting in the canyon of the San Francisco River gives it a dramatic terrain character very different from the flat desert of the lowlands, with the canyon walls rising above the old townsite. The community has a long mining tradition, and the ore trains, processing facilities, and mine infrastructure of the adjacent Morenci operation define the landscape of this remote southeastern Arizona county. One course serves the Clifton community in the canyon and mountain terrain of Greenlee County.
