Golf in Fort McDowell

Fort McDowell is the main community of the Fort McDowell Yavapai Nation, in the Sonoran Desert terrain northeast of Scottsdale between the McDowell Mountains and the Verde River. The Fort McDowell Yavapai Nation operates the We-Ko-Pa Resort and Casino along with the We-Ko-Pa Golf Club, which has become one of the notable golf destinations in the Phoenix metro area. The Verde River corridor east of Scottsdale provides a riparian habitat and distinctive terrain that differs from the flat Valley terrain of the main Scottsdale resort zone. The McDowell Mountains Regional Park west of the Fort McDowell community provides additional open space and recreation in the Sonoran Desert foothills terrain. One course serves the Fort McDowell community in the desert and river terrain of northeastern Maricopa County.
