Golf in Barstow

Barstow is a city in San Bernardino County in the Mojave Desert, at the junction of Interstate 15 and Interstate 40. The city occupies a position in the central Mojave Desert at roughly 2,100 feet elevation, at the confluence of two major transcontinental highway corridors. San Bernardino County's desert communities east of the San Bernardino Mountains include Barstow as a main service center for the central Mojave. The local economy centers on transportation services, retail for truckers and travelers, and government employment. Fort Irwin National Training Center is northeast of the city and provides military employment. The Mojave River passes through Barstow before disappearing into the desert sands to the northeast. The city serves as a way station for travelers crossing the Mojave on both Interstate 15 and the former Route 66 corridor.
