Golf in Beckwourth

Beckwourth is a small community in Plumas County in the Sierra Nevada, in Indian Valley northeast of the main Sierra crest. The community sits in a valley at roughly 4,400 feet elevation in the high mountain terrain of northeastern Plumas County. Plumas County spans from the middle Sierra Nevada to the eastern plateau of the Great Basin, and the Beckwourth area is in the eastern, higher-elevation portion of the county. Beckwourth Pass to the west was a significant passage for travelers crossing the Sierra Nevada in earlier centuries. The local economy is modest, based on ranching, limited timber, and recreation in the surrounding national forest. Plumas County's eastern communities are among the more remote in California, connected by US Highway 395 to the south and Highway 70 through the Feather River Canyon to the west.
