Golf in Gold Mountain

Gold Mountain is a community in Plumas County in the Sierra Nevada, in the mountain terrain of the eastern part of the county near the Nevada border. The area sits at high elevation in the mixed conifer forest and mountain meadow terrain of the northeastern Sierra Nevada. Plumas County's eastern communities are among the more isolated in California, accessible primarily from US Highway 395 in Nevada and limited California mountain roads. Gold Mountain occupies remote mountain terrain where recreation and limited ranching are the primary land uses. The surrounding national forest provides extensive open space, and mountain passes in the area connect Plumas County to the Nevada side of the Sierra. Quincy, the county seat, lies to the west. The community has a very small permanent population and is primarily known as a destination for those seeking remote mountain recreation.
